A new start? |
|
In case you're reading this and don't know much about
this site, Cless did completely lose interest in this site and has simply passed
it over to me, Lillymon.
Where to begin? I'm a 16 year-old Digimon fangirl from England who just happened
to play Dejap's Tales of Phantasia translation some time ago and later got
hooked on anything tri-Ace or 'Tales of' related. Then I found Phantasian
Productions, learned that Cless owned this site, showed interest and got
full control over this site. :-)
My first target here is to figure out how everything works (this is my first
serious website O_O). Once that's done, a new site design is in order. After all
that, I'll concentrate on getting the long-awaited Tales of Destiny and Eternia
sections on-line.
Expect another update soon!
Supplement (07/05/02): Made some minor changes. Deleted the
Poll function (the poll wasn't there) and (hopefully) fixed my news post. Next:
Umm... not sure...

Well, here goes. I've nearly completely lost interest in updating this site. So much I'm finding it hard to believe I'm even posting THIS.
I've lost my motivation... mainly because, the site looks like utter crap. The design is incredibly dated, and incredibly uninspired-looking. I just don't really feel like working with it anymore. I suppose I'll ask... anyone out there want to completely redesign the page for me? I have a poor imagination. I'd like the new page to look more modern, more user friendly, and have a more Tales + tri-Ace mix theme design. A great looking design would certainly increase my motivation. Something a bit more professional... if you're interested, email me. Well, I guess the thing that motivated me in the least to do this update were the newly emerged Star Ocean 3 screenshots. The new main characters are Fate and Sophia. The first screen is the game engine and the second apparently an FMV sequence.
Tales of Destiny II, aka Tales of Eternia (in Japan) was released in the US a couple weeks ago. OPINION/RANT: (this is gonna get long and rambly. You may or may not agree with I'm about to say. If you don't care about other's opinions, don't read on) I'm a bit disappointed by it, from what I've played (about halfway through disc 1, at Inferia castle). Namco redubbed the voices with an english cast, albeit with a flat and uninspired one. Even though they did that, they censored the face chat feature, once again ala Tales of Destiny! There goes an entire dimension of character development and personality... not to mention that some of these are also very funny, even IF you don't understand the language (Rid and Farah's arguments were great). This made me furious. I don't understand why since they completely redubbed the game! Because of this, I believe that some of the Titles are now also ungettable... too bad for completionists. Hmm... and I've also noticed that all the Tales of Phantasia questions in the quiz game have been replaced with general namco questions, so you diehard Tales fans will have a hell of a problem with it. (It was originally a questionaire only about the previous two Tales games. Now you've got dumb questions like "who is the mascot of namco?", and "Which game was not on namco museum vol.3?" and so on... sigh.). What else to ramble on about ToD2 thus far?... hmmm... dunno. Inevitably, the opening song was changed to an instrumental like ToD... not a bad song, but I still kinda liked ToD's better. None of them come close to the original songs though. In any case, once I've absorbed the story and secrets of ToD2, I'm going back to the Japanese ToE. ToD2 is just another hack-job. /END OPINION/RANT

Tales of Eternia finally confirmed officially! It's currently 70% done. It will be released in the US under the title "Tales of Destiny 2" in September. Which pretty much confirms Tales of Phantasia won't come out here with its own black bottom disc. Which is a Good Thing.
We all pray ToE won't get the same slack job translation ToD got.

It seems a server admin deleted the Tales of Eternia anime opening without my knowing. Until I can get it downsized, don't expect it to come back for awhile. Feel fortunate if you were able to nab it the first time around.
Two weeks already... time sure does fly...

CD Japan is now listing and accepting pre-orders for Tales of Eternia -- the animation STAGE 1 anime DVD. It will feature the first 3 episodes on an amazing dual-layered disc (for incredible quality). The first print edition comes with a bonus trading card and costs 5040 yen (about $41 US). Region 2 only.

I got some more yummy movies for ya. These are the openings to the animes STAR OCEAN EX and Tales of Eternia. Thanks to duckroll on IRC for the files.
And as a correction to the earlier announcement... STAR OCEAN EX is NOT based on STAR OCEAN Blue Sphere; it is actually STAR OCEAN The Second Story's game storyline in anime format. Maybe it will help tie to two games together at the end better...

What the goddess is that? That strange language they use in heaven? Not quite. It is called Melnics, and is used by the Celestians in Tales of Eternia! And now, with this font you can write in Melnics as well. Thanks go to duckroll for the font. =)
|
No... it's STAR OCEAN EX! Apparently, there's going to be a TV anime series based on STAR OCEAN: Blue Sphere's storyline that will broadcast on Japanese TV in April. Will it be as good as Tales of Eternia? We have yet to see...
|
The Almighty of Yggdrasil has decreed that STAR OCEAN: Blue Sphere for Gameboy Color is not indeed a resting project. He also states it will be unleashed on June 28th, and will retail for a crushing ¥6400. I would've updated this earlier, but I was vising the Goddesses for the weekend. I worship Belldandy.

Two updates in a day? Quite uncommon, to say the least. I'm showing off the new navbar I threw together in a few minutes. "Site Changes" is a dead link for now. Oh yeah, the site's name has changed. Contrary to popular belief, this isn't JUST a Star Ocean site!%#@!#@$#!
|
I updated the links page for the first time in ten months. Only because Spinner 8 kept on threatening me to. ;) (killed the dead links, killed VERGE links, updated URLs, and added several new ones) I might make a little redesign of the site soon. The Tales of Destiny section is nearing completion on my end and a massively updated Valkyrie Profile page is pending...
|
Woo! Namco has announced the fourth game in the Tales series is now in development for an undisclosed 'next gen' platform. But it seems this one is yet going to be designed by another different team. Whether it'll live up the divinity of Phantasia PSX and Eternia is yet unknown. Maybe Fujishima could even make a triumphant return as the artist. :D It'd be more awesome if they'd just collaborate with tri-Ace developers again... oh man...

Happy belated new year. ROM hacking section has been permantely removed from this page and moved on over to http://cless.romhacking.com/. Everything is updated there, and there's even a surprise... a _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ anybody? Oh, and remember to use MSIE 4.0+ and 800x600 minimum res, otherwise my design looks really messed up.. Work on this site is NOT stalled. The 'big' update's still coming folks, so hold onto your butts for just a little longer... Oh and spinner, JUST WEIGHT FOR IT. J00 SHALL SEA.
